SESSIONS ACTIVITY 2

The following framework is covered in every lesson for the sewing machine technicians:
   
1 - Conducting machine setup, identifying problems, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance.
2 - Reading and interpreting manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
3 - Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and test and adjust equipment.
4 - Use various relevant hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment.
5 - Sew off the completed machine and test all sewing functions.

The trainee's competency is determined by how well and accurately they carry through the instructions to produce a given product or perform required tasks on a sewing machine. This will ensure that they can use the start-up kits provided to them at the end of thetraining.

The start-up kit for a sewing machine technician will include the following:

As part of the initiative of this project, we believe no one should be left behind.
Big Sister wants to assist as much as we can by providing alternative projects at the same venue as the sewing course, such as:

· Knitting and crocheting.
· Up cycle recyclable goods into valuable items (an example is a Terapak box being turned into a basic purse)
· Packaging and sorting skills.
· Sourcing fabrics for projects.
· Basic selling and marketing skills.

This part of the project will be aimed at candidates who are not proficient in using a sewing machine.
