WHO IS uSisi Omkhulu
I have always wanted to share more of my sewing knowledge and believe strongly in education.
Not run of the mill; day to day education that you receive at school; but the type of education which enables the learner to become skilled in a way to better themselves.
Learning to sew does exactly this.
Our 1st pilot project that launched in 2022 was nameless; but with the tragic death of my eldest daughter Naudia; who was our family's "BIG SISTER", the name was born
uSisi Omkhulu; "OUR BIG SISTER" Naudia; will be with every student who passes through this project.
This project forms part of our bigger
picture that strives to assist the needy and neglected people in our community
by providing them with the means to improve their living conditions.
Providing adequate skills and equipment to individuals in our communities
is a reliable approach to eliminating poverty and its harmful effects. Moreover,
once these adequate skills and equipment are acquired, they open doors to entrepreneurial
opportunities that boost the confidence of individuals to become financially independent.
The skill of sewing is one of the most practical tools and mediums. Its basic
elements and techniques can be grasped by proper professional training. Furthermore,
this skill can aid individuals with strong entrepreneurial instincts to pursue
business ventures within the sewing industry, which this project uSisi Omkhulu seeks
to achieve.
uSisi Omkhulu, meaning Big Sister, is a
name that provides a feeling of comfort and safety. .Just as one would prefer
to share concerning issues and worries with a big sister, this project aims to
provide a nurturing environment to learn
